Introduction of TSTM

Tianjin Science and Technology Museum (TSTM) was built in 1992 and opened to the society on the New Years Day of 1995. Prof. SHING-SHEN CHERN, international famous mathematics master, has been the Honorary Director of TSTM.

　　TSTM occupies an area of 40,000 square meters. The museum owns an area of 21,000 square meters.The main task of our museum is to encourage scientific spirit, popularize scientific knowledge and spread scientific thought and method. Since its opening, 29 leaders of CCP and Country visited our museum. We receive 300,000 visitors per year. It plays an increasing obvious role in improving the public's qualities of science and culture.

　　TSTM is not only a main travel site, but also an important window for Tianjin opening to the outside world. TSTM has won the honorary titles "National Science Popularizing Education Base" "National Youngster Base for Science and Technology" "National Patriotism Base for Primary and Middle School" "National Advanced Unit on Mental Civilization".

　　The standing exhibition hall forms the main part of the TSTM that covers a construction area of 10,000 square meters.Being the two-storied building, the standing exhibition hall divided into 13 exhibition area in accordance with different subject and technology including 300 pieces (sets) of exhibitions.The Space Theater is in the ball-like building above the main building, with 30 meters in diameters. The grand exhibition hall and the distinctive area displays make you to think that you are staying in the palace of science.

　　The exhibition in the museum combine science, interst, knowledge, participation and art. It vividly spread scientific and technology knowledge to the public, aided by mordern means of display, such as sound, light, electricity and computer. By directly operating the exhibition youcan personally experience the large fun of science and technology.
